About the Role:


We have an opening for a Junior Software Engineer to form part of the Agile team, evolving our Medicines solution.


In the world of software engineering, there are few areas where you can have more impact than healthcare. Your work will assist doctors, lab techs, pharmacists, nurses, and others involved in helping patients improve their health. The products you work on play a material role in saving lives and improving patient care and the quality of those solutions is key.


So as a Junior Engineer, be at the centre of a collaborative team who design, deliver and maintain new areas of functionality, tools, solutions and maintain excellent standards of software engineering. This might seem like a tall order but with the guidance and support from our collaborative cross-functional team, you'll be brought up to speed in no time.


About You:


You are a developer with 1+ years of software engineering experience and passion for learning. You will be working within the wider Orion Health Canberra team, but interacting with developers in Auckland, Christchurch and Bangkok, so excellent communication skills are essential, and prior experience working with a remote team would be a definite plus.


Experience or knowledge in any of the following is favourable:

  • Java technologies ideally using Hibernate and OSGi
  • Front end development using JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • REST web services
  • Test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber and Jmeter
  • Relational databases, especially Oracle and MSSQL
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, ideally Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban and TDD
